D - 1 turn limit (can cause confusion) C - 2 turn limit (can cause migraines) B - 3 turn limit (can inflict mild psychological damage) A - 4 turn limit (can inflict serious psychological damage) S - 5 turn limit (can kill people)
Modifiers like multi-target, being particularly difficult to notice/subtle, debuffs, etc reduce turn limit by -1 each.
Big boy modifiers like roots, binds, and non-visual triggers require semi-unique/unique status or reduce turn limit by -2 each.
If a Genjutsu you're applying for would have 0 turns because of the modifiers you want, it won't work.
Resistance is applied -afterward-; therefore, if you have T2 Resistance and are afflicted with an A rank that lasts 4 turns, you can break out of it after 2 turns if you know that you are under Genjutsu. Otherwise, you are trapped for the whole 4 turns. If the same A rank instead only lasts for 1 turn, then you can break out after 1 turn.
Genjutsu requires handseals unless you have a unique like Sharingan.
If the victim has been defeated and can no longer fight back, the Genjutsu can be repeated and maintained by the user for additional chakra.
DISPELLING GENJUTSU VIA PAIN
The amount of damage that must be inflicted scales with the rank of the Genjutsu.
D ranks: Minor C ranks: Mild B ranks: Moderate A ranks: Severe S ranks: Lethal
