Cool: Awesome, popular, nice, radical, etc
At face value, this seems like a really subjective and dumb way to do anything by. Everyone has a different view on what 'cool' is, right? What sense does it make to try and do things that someone else thinks is cool? It might even seem like a waste of time to bother. To that, I say that coolness is not about any one person's individual experience- it's about the collective experience. If everyone has fun, then that moment or event or scene is cool and that's enough. If everyone except one person has fun, then it isn't totally and completely uncool... but it's not as much of a cool time as it could have been. The coolness factor is relative to how many people are participating and how many of them are having fun. If you can make a bunch of people have fun all at once, then you're very cool.
Okay. How do you achieve that on purpose?
The basic principle is this: Do what would be cool to as many people involved as possible.
This does not mean that you must appeal to every single player; there are some people who you'll never please. That's alright. Making the attempt, as best as you can, is what achieves the best results. Of course, this also does not mean that you must sacrifice your own fun and happiness just to achieve a cool time for others- this just means that you should seek to avoid purposefully making other people OOC'ly miserable just to achieve a raw moment for yourself. This is because having fun all on your own is no good on a roleplaying game where all of us are responsible for writing a cool story together. As co-authors to the story of WON's third wipe, we owe it to one another to do our best to write dialogue, actions, and characters that make the story cooler.
For example- if an event came up where a Kage EC's life was in danger and I determined that it would be cooler for them to have a raw shounen moment and survive, I would push the event that way with my emotes. If, instead, I determined that it would be cooler for that same Kage EC to die in that event, I would throw that character away without a second thought... and I would have a fun time doing so.
How?
Because I'm not deriving my fun from winning battles or coming out on top- I'm choosing to derive my fun from having epic, raw, impactful, emotional moments between my characters and others. The more of those I can get, the more of a good time I have. That's how I personally play the game. If you know yourself well enough to know why you're playing and what is fun for you, then focus on how you can make that cooler- if you're someone who derives their fun from just raw combat and PvP, then do not forsake shounen dialogue and exposition to rush a victory. Savor the fight itself. Make it an enjoyable experience for yourself and your opponent. Then, losing doesn't feel as bad and winning feels -that- much better. If you don't already know what drives you to play or what satisfies you, figure that out... and then become a pro at making that element of your experience very cool.
This wipe is called the 'Rule of Cool' wipe because we want people to, at default, play the game without needing to look at rules or limitations. If all sides agree, freeform RP it all and do the sort of wild crazy stuff you've imagined yourself doing if you were a Naruto character. Don't get bogged down in disagreements, just keep it moving and chill- because the focus should not be for your character to never be at a disadvantage, never suffer, never lose, etc
The goal should be to partake in a cool story. So-
Do your best to be cool, bro.
