MONEY AND IC CONSEQUENCES
While we're not going to simply hand you all of the funds you'll ever need on our game through automatic village payment, we are going to have our Daimyo regularly visit each respecting village with hauls of ryo for the kage or leaders of settlements to hand out for their active soldier's work. Should the village screw up drastically, however, not only will the village suffer consequences in other ways; but they will find themselves starved of payment for that entire month or more should their blunder be notable enough. This might include stirring up problems within village relations, or failing to protect buildings from being destroyed within your village's walls or territories, among other possible scenarios that may or may not arise. In short? Don't expect to do anything you want, and get away with it just because there might not be player characters around to see it! It is unrealistic to think that you should be able to pull off something obviously suspicious out in the open simply because players or ECs aren't around. Part of us making the world interactive is that civilians do roam the streets, ICly. In your village, and in your village's branching territories. They will bear witness to suspicious activity, and they will report it if you're not careful. In addition, guards do -regularly- patrol all major settlements and villages; meaning that they can and will bear witness to open, suspicious activity and act upon accordingly. Be smart about what you do, or you and your whole village might just end up paying for it!
Note: It has finally been respectfully brought to our attention that our village NPCs might be deterring and discouraging players from creating conflict. Because of this, we have decided to lessen the power and amount of impact said NPCs will have when village attacks -do- happen. However, they will still be an active part of the community; just in a more informative manner than they will be a defensive and offensive manner as they have been used in the past.
BUILDING
Let's start with building. Our system for it is pretty simple. While we do have buildings already made in each village (obviously), that's not the limit of the village's potential. On the contrary! If you were to, say, buy a key to one of the houses, you would have full accessibility to renovations for that house if you have the funds for it. If you're the Head of the Hospital, you would have access to renovations for that entire hospital if you had the funds for extra rooms and whatnot to your leisure. The same thing applies to the Police Captain, and current Kages of each village. Any sort of leader, clan leader or not, has the opportunity to do whatever they want to their respective buildings. Though, clan leaders will have a bit more tough, as before they can have and live within a clan house; they'll be forced to raise the funds for it, first. That being said, anyone can hire construction workers for a building, or buy a house if they meet he resource requirement.
So with all of that in mind, let's talk about the prices.
PRICES
Small building - 30,000 minerals, or 150,000 ryo.
Medium building - 60,000 minerals, or 300,000 ryo.
Large building - 90,000 minerals, or 450,000 ryo.
Additional rooms - 6,000 minerals, or 30,000 ryo.
Additional floors - 10,000 minerals, or 50,000 ryo.
REBUILDING
Woo! Congratulations. Theoretically, you've successfully purchased a building! Or perhaps you're simply guarding one, and you've been doing a damn good job at it for a really long time now. But alas, no one can protect something twenty-four seven. And on one fateful day, Douchebag Genin#349 rolls up to your village, screams 'HOUSENKA!!!", and the twenty thousand ryo or minerals that you expended on your structure goes crashing and burning to the ground alongside your dreams. You feel your wallet grow heavy as you're forced to stand there and watch a C rank jutsu destroy something that you've put probably OOC weeks or even months into building from the ground up. And it just feels.... so bad, man. Well, get used to it. Because that's exactly how we're doing things on our game t- no.
Hell no.
Destroying buildings is going to be a little harder to pull off than simply waltzing up to it, throwing a torch into the room, and then leaving the flames to do their thing. You're not going to successfully destroy an entire building by throwing a C rank jutsu at it. "But that's dumb! Fire spreads, no matter how small it is!" ...Yeah! Well hey, guess what! This is a 2D game, where people can shoot fire out of their mouths and lightning from their hands! So.... we're not really going by what's realistic and what's not, are we? No. So let's get down to the specifics of how we're handling stuff like this, now that I've placed it all out on the table. Medium to large sized buildings can be destroyed by medium-large scale jutsu. Small buildings? They can be destroyed by the smaller stuff. A relatively large accumulation of well-placed torches within the house, a C rank fire jutsu with enough power behind it in the case of exceptionally small structures. Things of that nature. However, if you're trying to destroy a medium or large scale building with a mediocre jutsu? That's going to take you some time, and AT LEAST a few of them fired off consecutively. We ask that players destroying buildings take it upon themselves to gain an admin audience, so that there's no confusion for anyone involved later on.
Now, for the prices to rebuild...!
REBUILDING PRICES
Small buildings: 10,000 minerals, or 50,000 ryo.
Medium buildings: 20,000 minerals, or 100,000 ryo.
Large buildings: 40,000 minerals, or 200,000 ryo.
VILLAGE WALLS
It's not worth it, guys. It's not really possible, either. You're not realistically going to scale an entire, massive village wall to escape or enter a village being unseen, or unnoticed. Not even Kisame and Itachi even tried it, because not only were there Jounin and Chuunin level shinobi decorating the tops of the walls on look out and defense to alert the entire village if they saw someone trying to do something like that; but it's physically exhausting and impossible to pull it off. Not only would you be just about out of juice if you even did reach the top, but you'd be basically running your exhausted self into a whole, whole, whole lot of higher tier shinobi. We're putting NPC guards around each settlement and village wall to prevent this from happening, because... really, it's just dumb to try and it eliminates RP by making guarding anything in the village irrelevant. If you have legit means of bypassing or destroying a portion of a village wall, then we will take that exception in whole-heartedly with a GM-Help explaining how you can pull it off. Genuinely, we will. But otherwise, don't even consider it.
DISCLAIMER: NPC guards will not ONLY be used for guarding village walls. If you choose to attack a village, you should be aware of the danger of doing so, and prepared! Players are not the only shinobi within a village, and will not be treated as such. Should you choose to attack a major point in any village or settlement, you may or may not find yourself facing off with EC guards as well. Please bear this in mind. Assaulting a village is not easy, and we're not planning on making it easy, either. So if you see ECs made because you're attacking, know that it's not because admins are out to get you for attacking. In fact, roleplay of any kind is encouraged. But be ready to face the IC consequences that come with attacking a village by your lonesome or without being properly prepared.
JAIL
Uh oh. You done goofed, son. You got yourself thrown into the slammer, and now you're both wondering when you're going to get out and if you don't; what kind of DR you want. Yeah, we've all been there at some point. It generally sucks being thrown into prison because not only is there borderline nothing for you to interact with but a bed, a mirror to reflect your life decisions with, and a toilet to relate to how shitty the situation is- but usually, guards don't really interact with you. They post you a one-liner about throwing you some stale bread and moldy water, and then AFK by your cell doors while your unfortunate soul has the chakra sucked out of you by a little tag on the ground that they slapped onto the flooring that you, for the life of you, cannot seem to peel off due to the super glue holding it in place. It's not cool to be roleplay starved, and punished for starting up whatever shit that you started up to get thrown into jail in the first place and then forever forgotten until you finally just break down and make an alt. Why the hell should we or would we punish you for taking risks that might not always ICly end up in your favor? We shouldn't, and thus, we won't. Yep. Simple as that.
So! While you will be thrown in jail, if you are not treated to a decent sized, roleplay session with at least one person a day while they figure out what they're going to do with you, after two days, you are free to say "Screw this, screw you guys, and screw this jail cell." and leave. Yeah. Leave. You officially have permission to RP breaking out after a simple GM-Help saying that you've been roleplay starved as a prisoner for two days. If people aren't going to guard you or provide you some kind of action while you're stuck in there, then we're not going to punish you OOCly. They can either be active guards or deal with the consequences that'll likely arise ICly due to their inability to contain you. And oh, look at that! You started more RP. Nice, bro.
EVENT CHARACTER INTERACTIONS WITHIN YOUR VILLAGE
Last but not least, we have event character interactions! Now, as you may or may not have read within the main introduction in our forum, we will be having a lot... and I mean a lot of events going on within our world to keep things interesting. To do this, we'll be presenting personalized and world-wide events on a frequent basis for everyone to take part in if they so wish to do so. They're not required to progress, of course. But they will be there for flavor should anyone have a desire to take part in them! That being said, due to the relation of our plan to make individualized events for certain groups of people, and whatnot, we will occasionally have ECs strolling throughout the village to target certain people in different ways. Some violent, some not violent. We'd simply like to ask that you as a player are courteous to our event masters and do not metagame the fact that they'll be the source of an event and follow them around or interrogate them in an effort to spotlight yourself prematurely. You are within a settlement or a village, and because of that, you are not aware of everyone that passes by you. There are hundreds upon thousands of civilians roaming the streets and casually walking about on a daily basis. Unless the EC is doing something inherently suspicious, or looks suspicious in any way shape or form, please do not approach them unless you have a specific IC reason to do so. If the EC is ready for you to know that there's some stuff going down or plans to address you or the general crowd, they will let you know by taking it upon themselves to do so. So be patient, everyone will get their time to shine.
